ALEXANDRIA, VA (April 23, 2003) - Starting with the May 24
Rockford Speedway MMRA Touring Series race, Honda Engines will be the
presenting sponsor of the MMRA's Future Stars of Racing division. The
$1000 cash portion of the purse for all these races is being provided by
Honda Engines. Honda Engines played a key role in helping MMRA get
back on its feet last year with our single Nationals event, and this year
their increased support is helping MMRA make minicup racing bigger and
better than ever before.
Honda Engines power every single MMRA minicup car in the
country, and competitors at every MMRA Touring Series event have enjoyed the
support of Mountain Machine Service, a Honda Engines dealer.
"MMRA is super excited to have the support of Honda Engines
again this year" stated MMRA President, Pete Neimeier. "Honda Engines
are reliable, inexpensive, and are a key reason the sport of minicup racing
is within reach of the average American family" he continued.
The remaining MMRA Touring and Grand National events are as
follows:
May 24 - Rockford Speedway, Illinois
June 7 - New River Valley Speedway, Virginia
July 25-27 - East Grand National, Lake Erie Speedway, Pennsylvania
August 9-10 - West Grand National, TBA
About MMRA: The Miniature Motorsports Racing Association is the oldest
and largest sanctioning body in the country for 1/2 scale stock cars known
as minicups. The association is made up of two main groups - the
Future Stars of Racing and the Open Division.
The Future Stars of Racing program is designed for young
racers aged 8-16. It provides the perfect "next step" for go-kart or
quarter midget racers who dream of NASCAR stardom. MMRA minicup racing
gives these kids an opportunity to turn laps at the same short tracks where
many of their heroes got their start.
The Open Division is a great place for the average fan to get out of the stands and into the action.
The cars cost about the same as a jet ski and are inexpensive and easy to
maintain. MMRA's strict rules make everyone compete on a level playing
field where excessive money won't buy more speed. If you've ever
wanted to get into racing, minicups are the least expensive, safest way to
start.
